Zhuhai Grand Theater
Zhuhai Grand Theater is located on the seashore of Yeli Island, Lovers' Road, Zhuhai City, Guangdong Province. It is the only opera house built on an island in China.
Zhuhai Grand Theater consists of two sets of "shells", one large and one small, which constitute the overall image of the opera house. Therefore, it is called "Sun and Moon Shells".
Zhuhai Grand Theater is a landmark building in Zhuhai City. It was designed by Professor Chen Keshi and started construction on April 28, 2010. The total construction area is about 59,000 square meters, and the investment estimate is about 1.08 billion yuan. The main structure was topped out on December 29, 2013.
On January 1, 2017, Zhuhai Grand Theater ushered in its first performance. Zhuhai Grand Theater was once named Zhuhai Opera House. Before the premiere, the name was finally determined as Zhuhai Grand Theater.
